Thoughts While Shaving: Bloomberg’s Quick Assessment on the Would-Be Times Square Bomber…More.

    Feast of St. Judith*

                                  Bloomberg: Jerk of Jerks.
More people tell know-nothing Katie Couric more nonsense than anyone else.  Why? Was she moved over to CBS Evening to “tart up the news” as grouchy, sexist-sounding  Dan Rather maintains?  Who knows?
Maybe they know they’ve got a wide-eyed gullible liberal when they see one. First it was Joe Biden who told her informatively that FDR telecast a calming report to the nation on television the day of the 1929 crash.    Monday it was New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg telling her that so far as he knew the Times Square would-be bomber was a local who was mad at Obama-Care—something like that.
There really was a concerted administration attempt to diss the idea that Faisel Shahzad was anything more than a terrorist. Janet Napolitano said initially it appeared to be a“one off”--Brit term meaning a one-time event (first time I ever heard that expression: did anyone else know what it was without looking it up?  Be honest now!).  Then Chuck Schumer raced to the TV to say it appeared unconnected with terrorism.
But Bloomberg’s was the worst…a stupid move to sully the Tea Party’ers.  As is now known the bomber was born in Pakistan, a naturalized citizen and trained in Waziristan terrorist camps specially for this mission.  Will Bloomberg apologize? No rube worth $17 billion who bought the mayoral seat twice would ever think of apologizing. He’s just an important-looking loud-mouth little squirt with elevator shoes who has more money than intelligence.
                         GOP Establishment Wants Murphy.
If 8th district Republican congressional nominee Joe Walsh can be pushed off the ticket basis his ever-mounting history of financial difficulties, leading GOP establishment figures with ties to the RNC want State Sen. Matt Murphy as his replacement…the Palatine lawmaker who lost the Lt. Governor nod to Jason Plummer. Incidentally, Walsh told me that Dan Proft is working for him on p. r.  About rumors he’s vacating the ticket, Joe told me yesterday “I ain’t going.”
Obama Outsmarts Himself on Offshore Drilling.
Irony of ironies: Barack Obama is holding the bag with possibly the worst oil spill in recent history due to his decision to embrace limited off-shore drilling by British Petroleum in the Gulf of Mexico.  The decision was made to curry favor with congressional Republicans who opposed Cap `n Trade. What’s that old maxim that says no good deed goes unpunished? He’s “temporarily” suspended offshore drilling but don’t worry…he’s not going to make that “mistake” again.
By the way, was the Fox interview with Bush former FEMA director Mike (“you’re doin’ a heckuva job, Brownie!) Brown a payback for the railing that liberals did against the Bush management of Katrina? Brown said on Monday that the Obama White House may have played politics with the oil spill: “I would not be surprised if the White House said, you know, `we might be able to, guess what, do what? Use this crisis to our advantage. Let this crisis get really bad and then we’ll step in. We will be able to shut down offshore drilling. We will be able to turn to all these alternate fuels.’.”
The interview with Brown was conducted by Neil Cavuto. Touchy-
touchy! White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told Fox White House
correspondent Wendell Goler to “call headquarters, my friend [meaning
Fox network’s bosses] “and ask for somebody who makes decisions to put
people like that on television!”   Poor sensitive baby.  After watching that
love fest for Obama at the White House Correspondents’ dinner…with the
mainstream news reportorial audience applauding passage of nationalized
health care law…pout-meister Gibbs has the effrontery to shriek at so-called
    bias.
I Like Mitch Daniels for President.
After seeing him at the Union League Club yesterday morning I am
hugely impressed and would suggest the team of Daniels for president and
Paul Ryan (R-Wis) for veep.  But then I would support anyone over Obama.
Right now my picks are in this order:

First place: Gov. Mitch Daniels.  Second place: Former Gov. Mike Huckabee.  Third: Former Gov. Mitt Romney.  Fourth, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.  Sorry, I can’t go Sarah Palin because I don’t want to spend 4 to 8 years hearing her screech on the stump—but I grant you she’s a helluva cheer-leader for the troops.  Not far down the veep list in my book would be Michelle Bachmann.

*: St. Judith (or Jutta) [AD 1260]. The patroness of Prussia, she was born at Sangerhausen, to the southwest of Eisleben and was inspired by St. Elizabeth of Hungary.  Married at age 15 to a man of noble rank, she was a dutiful wife and mother. Her husband was on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land when he died to the great grief of his widow who brought up their children alone. When her children were raised, she turned to a full-time life of prayer, penance and good works. She ministered to the poor and at last made her way to Prussia, the land of the Teutonic knights whose grand master was her relative, Hanno of Sangerhausen.

Yes Tom, I did. But then I was born in Ireland and lived in England for a few years - so I have a dubious advantage...

  2. Third: Former Gov. Mitt Romney.
    Fourth, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

A well-deserved 3rd/4th. Even if the first two become vacant, they should hold these places.

    RINOS both.

  3. Daniels has stated pretty definitely that he does not want to be President.

Huckabee is a screw-up. His repeated interventions in the Arkansas justice system on behalf of "deserving" criminals has bit him twice, it will bite him more.

Romney... well, MassCare is looking like a worse disaster every day. It may have been the best deal he could get from the Democratic legislature, but that's damed faint praise.
