Personal Aside: Obama’s Rotten Judgment on Rev. Jeremiah Wright Should—I Hope--Permanently Maim his Presidential Quest—As Well It Should—and City’s Timid Media Should Take a Hit.

Blacks should not sing “God Bless America” but “God damn America.”

So thundered Rev. Jeremiah Wright in a video that was offered for sale by Trinity United Church of Christ about the government’s treatment of black Americans:

“The government gives them drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing `God Bless America’ No,no,no, God damn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme!”

In addition to cursing America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after September 11, 2001 that the U. S. had brought on al Qaeda’s attacks because of its own terrorism. “We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon and we never batted an eye. We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost,” he told his congregation on September 16, 2001.

This example should rank with “rum, Romanism and rebellion” spoken by another preacher which detonated James G. Blaine’s presidential hopes. Throughout U.S. history, judgment of presidential candidates has occupied first tier in elections. Blaine’s failure to denounce the preacher lost him the election. The slip of a lip that led Gerald Ford to announce in a debate with Jimmy Carter that all of eastern Europe was free of communism—and his holding to that untenable conclusion for six succeeding days—convinced voters of his poor judgment; they decided if the president didn’t know whether eastern Europe was communist or not, they’d pick someone else who did. Awful judgment by Richard Nixon over Watergate led the U.S. Congress to secure his resignation. But as bad as these things were, they did not convey the aura of sedition and treason which Wright’s proclamations do and which Obama’s failure to thoroughly reject Wright supports.

Sen. Obama said he was not in the church when those pronouncements were made—but this is an unacceptable excuse in this political dialogue. He has called Wright his spiritual mentor, advised the minister when he decided to run for public office, was married by Wright, had his children baptized by Wright. Wright was the first man he recognized in his announcement speech in Springfield. On and on.

Obama was given a pass by the “Tribune” in its editorial Sunday—but this nervous, hesitant and apologetic, unmanly editorial view is endemic of the huge problem local media have covering blacks. They have given Obama and vociferous treasonous talking pastors of whatever color a shaky pass because of political correctness. While the “Tribune” has become the ace apologist for sedition; the “Sun-Times” with its Obama-slanted news and propagandists ala Mary Mitchell have become facilitators of it.

Get the facts straight, media. Tonight Barack Obama shouldn’t get away “explaining” this inexcusable lapse in his judgment by spinning another airy and filmy pretty tone poem without specifics. The most important quality a presidential candidate can offer is sound judgment. Obama may not have been in the church when the above mentioned diatribe to the nation was hurled but he has belonged to it for 20 years during which 500 sermons were delivered and if he wasn’t aware of what his pastor and spiritual mentor was saying, he is intellectually impaired. It is clear he is not intellectually incompetent; he has a serious character deficiency, is a duplicitous slicker who has been reckless and guilty of ill-serving the country by obfuscating the truth in his own political behalf.

He can’t have it both ways. Early in his career, Obama the opportunist saw the value of joining a fast growing church popular with the black middle class that would help him gain followers in the community where he lives. Now he wants to say he never heard his spiritual father as a parishioner and by spinning some magical oratory and sidle up to Martin Luther King, romance the compliant media—especially in Chicago—like the terrified guilt-ridden “Tribune” and corporate ally “Sun-Times” and have it go away. If he is serious about converting from being perceived as an enabler to a ranking bigot and America hater to something equivalent to an American patriot—which his refusal to wear a flag emblem in his lapel and not place his hand on his heart during singing of the anthem would testify—he should quit the church forthwith.

The congregation of Trinity United Church of Christ is not 100% black. Nor is it composed of poor. It is middle class and judging from the finger-snapping, swaying and cheers Wright elicited, it is doubtful that the heavily black membership of the church is anything but shills for blatant lack of fealty of the country. This is a judgment that the middle class black community must be held accountable for in numberless “churches” where this hatred spews.

Presidential candidates are rated by judgment. By aligning with this travesty “church” for more than 20 years, Barack Obama deserves to be given a failing grade in the most elementary requite of presidential consideration—the requirement of loyalty to the United States and its traditions. You can hardly say he is loyal to the country after 20 years of winking at this insidious sedition. Hillary Clinton should—I say should—be a slam dunk for the nomination if the Democratic party valued allegiance to U. S. traditions.

Further since all the Democratic congressional incumbents but one (Rahm Emanuel) should immediately be challenged on the basis of supporting Obama whose judgment and character is in serious question. It should be the major issue against Dick Durbin whose status as partisan trimmer and hustler is beyond question.

The Chicago newspaper media should be excoriated for failing to do its duty which is to vett candidates. There is no greater example of incompetence and cowardice than the “Tribune” editorial that sought to shrug away Obama’s sharing of sedition with his spiritual “adviser” and arch-lefty ideologue Carol Marin’s “Sun-Times” idealistic, little-girl Sunday column prattling about candor and fidelity of friendship vis-à-vis his relationship to Tony Rezko.

What does a presidential candidate have to do to earn rebuke and opprobrium from the media of this town—say along with Wright: God damn the United States?

  1. David Axelrod has not prepared his candidate to be President. If Obama had been vetted - Rezko, American terrorists Ayers & Dorhn, Jeremiah Wright, Illinois Legislative Present Record and God knows what else - he would not be swimming in the fish bowl looking for a place to hide.

Good Lord, why didn't Oprah give Obama a heads up when she ditched Rev. Wright?

Why didn't Dave Axelrod ask that question long ago?

Last week's 11th Hour visits to the editorial boards of the Obama Friendly Chicago Newspapers, mad dashes to Cable news outlets, and wild assertions that his problems come from American racism and Hillary Clinton prove that Barack Obama is no where near ready to be President.

Axelrod's arrogant dismissing of the American Voter -'They'll take what we tell them' is classic Progressive Democratic Nation Committee Thought - an it loses voters and subsequently elections.

Now Axelrod has Obama about to 'lecture' America in Race? If Obama thought the lights were getting hot before, hold the phone!

Barack Obama's problems are his own to be sure, but David Axelrod should 'wear the jacket' for not dealing with Wright, Rezko, Ayers/Dorhn, weak legislative record a very long time ago.

  2. James Blaine is alive and well and living in the Illinois Constitution. He currently prevents schools choice and is supported by teachers unions, the victimhood industry and bigots everywhere.

Here's tipping a belated glass to your health Sec. Blaine, We'll be looking for you at a Constitution Convention.

  3. Does Michelle Obama wear a cloth coat?
Did Obama's daughters accept a dog from Tony Rezko and name it "Checkers"?

Your thinking is limited by who you are -- white, Catholic, Republican, elderly and limited in experience.

It is never wise to judge unless you have walked in the shoes of those whom you judge.

You have not. You are too far removed from the black experience to know your subject.

I have tried to be polite, instead of saying you don't know what you are talking about. But you don't.

If you care, I am white, and my ancestors date back before the Revolutionary War, except for the Alexanders, who are pre-Civil War.

But I have worked with black young people and they don't trust us; not at all. I could write much more, but it wouldn't change anything.

  5. I am bewildered by the Alexander comment, broadly claiming...(african americans) "don't trust us; not at all".

I don't trust a long list of people, and don't know why I need to. Using independent thinking skills rather than relying on someone's skin color to be of assistance or hindrance in making choices in life has to be of some value.

I don't trust white people...is that relevant to what candidate should I vote for? Shall I use that as an excuse for my lot in life?
