Personal Asides: Just One Trivia Question.

Who was the literary genius, born in St. Louis but who lived so long in London that he was always mistaken for an aristocratic gentleman, who said: “When America falls into decadence and dies as result of a nuclear bomb, all that will remain of it will be ten thousand lost golf balls”?

  1. I think that was T.S. Eliot...the "thousand lost golf balls" sounds as if it came from one of his poems, "The Four Quartets" perhaps. Anyway I know he was born in the U.S. and became a very English Bond Street banker.
