Sharon Will Assuredly Be Remembered as a Hero of Israel

sharon israel
While he hasn’t officially left us, Ariel Sharon will certainly be cherished as a hero of Israel and the Jewish people: a great military leader and a man of peace. He was, in fact, a fabled figure who ranks with many of those characterized in the Jewish bible. Perhaps the one figure he resembles in grit, courage and strategic vision is Joshua, the wise military commander who succeeded Moses. While Joshua actually led the Israelites to the Promised Land and Sharon was taken from us too early, the two men have similar attributes. As one of 12 scouts sent ahead to survey the land and give a military estimate of defensive strength Joshua along with Caleb were the only ones who were undaunted by the powerful natives and Joshua and Caleb were the only ones who lived at the time of first arrival at Canaan to survive and enter the Promised Land, Moses having passed over the leadership to him.
