The Sun-Times: Slurring Jesus Christ but Hey, It’s Just Fun

The new “Controversy” section of the Sunday Sun-Times is well named. Yesterday a cartoon published by the all-but-official Democratic newspaper of record had great fun at the expense of Jesus Christ whom Christians believe is the Son of God and the Second Person of the Trinity. “Cartoonish Thoughts” is filled with wording rather too repulsive to reproduce. However “Controversy” is too wise to make fun just of Christians and Jews and leave sacrosanct Islam. Followers of Mohammad are not as blasé as are Christians and Jews about sacrilege. If “Cartoonish Thoughts” will turn to The Prophet, quite possibly the editor of “Controversy,”Tom McNamee, an Irish Catholic who also does a column on Mondays would meet with some misfortune when he leaves work for home.
