Fair Enough: Specter Didn’t Think Kagan was Qualified for Solicitor General but is for the Supreme Court. P. S. He Wants a Job With Obama…Pierre duPont IV.

                                       The Fading Specter.

     Sen. Arlen Specter has publicly told the Obama people that he’d like to be considered for a high federal job after his term expires next January. And, oh yes, he will enthusiastically vote to confirm Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court…although he voted against her confirmation (when he was a Republican) for Solicitor General.

     Remember Pete DuPont…or as his billionaire family spells the surname… duPont?   He doesn’t because he thinks spelling DuPont with a capital D means he’s a regular fella.  

      He was Republican governor of Delaware once and ran for president.  Nice guy (I met him several times). Real name is Pierre but he goes by Pete to give that sense of average Joe. Pierre or Pete notwithstanding I have the idea that being the product of generations of sexual coupling with the eastern  aristocracy has led to his brains over-bred to mush.  (Happens all the time: look at the British royal family).  

      Why do I think so?  Because he just wrote a piece that urged Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2012, saying she’d be a vast improvement over Obama.  

       The most I can say about Hillary my former Park Ridge neighbor is that if elected she’d have one up on Obama in that she’s a patriot. You wouldn’t have her quibbling as did The One about whether or not this country is exceptional.  Obama said, you’ll remember, er-er-er yes people here think the country is exceptional but then the Greeks think Greece is exceptional and the Brits think England is too. 

         But that aside, all you have to do is to write a 1,000-page treatise labeled strangely The Death of American Virtue by Ken Gormley to discover that the lady who is our secretary of state was on the way to being indicted for perjury and misappropriation of assets in the Whitewater case by the Feds when at the same time Ken Starr discovered the case of sexual malfeasance against her husband Bubba and the sneaky assignations associated plus a multiplicity of tapes…and the decision was made that you can’t bring to the bar of justice both the president and First Lady without precipitating a constitutional crisis.  So they opted to go after Bill. 

         But when you read this turgidly researched book which has taken Gormley a half decade to compile…a book solidly immersed in legalisms and facts…you will find what the media have long ignored: that the Little Lady is a highly skilled crook, manipulator and legendary Madoff-style operator to whom truth is an utter stranger…who. if she were treated as an ordinary citizen would be dressed in an orange jumper in the federal pen right now. 

         Because I give her a half-point edge over Obama in she is a patriot in that she has no affiliation either to Islam or Indonesia and wants the  United States to survive is no reason why she ought to be allowed to go near the presidency.  Actually she’d make the same kind of president that Eddie Vrdolyak would.  You wouldn’t mind having Eddie sitting at the world card-table representing us because as a patriot he wouldn’t queer the game against us—more than I can say about Obama. My breath will continue to come in short pants until this Mystery Man whose lineage and past has been sheltered by the compliant media is the hell out of the White House.  

       What’s wrong with Pierre duPont’s head suggesting this female crook for the presidency?  Nothing. He’s just country-club squared—dumb Republican Brahmin who thinks he has enough influence to encourage her to run against Obama.  Actually she’d be a fool to do so.  The indentured black bloc of 99% is locked up tighter than a drum for Obama due to mindless racial solidarity—nothing more cerebral than that--and she’d be bound to lose the primaries.  

                               Tough-Minded Catholic Advocacy. 

       I’ve been accused of being a tough-minded advocate of authentic Catholicism and have the scars meted out from this archdiocesan chancery to prove it—but I must tell you that if you’re like me, you’ll tune in to a refreshing spate of commentary on the need for revitalization of this historic faith and the need to install without novocaine recognizable spine in the backside of most  bishops.  Yesterday the host named Michael Voris zeroed in on New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan who is all talk and little “do”—shown smiling and applauding the introduction of a Catholic Gay Lesbian, Bisexual Transgender group at a church where Dolan had just celebrated Mass.  

        Go to a website known as RealCatholicTV.com and hear Michael Voris expound almost daily on the problems of the Church and the flaccidity of most bishops.  He’s got a degree in Sacred Theology, is a layman, is a former TV producer and has a marvelous way with the camera.

   *: Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It’s the title given to Our Blessed Mother in her role as patroness of the Carmelite Order.  The original Carmelites were Catholic hermits living on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land during the 12^th and 13^th centuries.  Popular devotion has centered on the scapular of Our Lady known as the Brown Scapular, a sacramental associated with promises of Mary’s special aid for the salvation of the wearer.  Carmelites see in Mary a perfect model of interior life of prayer and contemplation. Devotion to the Feast and the Brown Scapular means a special call to the interior life.  Carmel is the symbol of the contemplative life, a life wholly dedicated to the quest for God, wholly oriented to intimacy with God and the one who best realized this highest ideal, Mary of Nazareth.
